Taxis or other transport from SIN Changi to Johor Bahru

I'll be flying into SIN Changi Airport arriving around 11pm and need to get to Johor Bahru. Rather than stay overnight in Singapore I'd prefer to go directly to JHB. Does anyone know if taxis are available to take me from SIN at that time of night to JHB and the approximate cost and time it would take? Thanx

Unlike most situations, where the best way to get anywhere in Singapore is the MRT rapid rail transit system, there is a bus that will take you from the airport to Johor Bahru. There seems to be a little problem with taxis running directly to Johor Baru - I think it is a border crossing/ immigration issue. The border crossing can be complex and long, long lines. Basically the bus drops you off on the Singapore side of Immigration, then you pass through the exit counters at immigration.

Then wait again for the bus, go to the Malaysia immigration, pass through that mess, and then you are dropped off in Johor Baru with a bunch of greedy taxis drivers pulling on you to follow them to take you were you want to go in Johor Bahru.

The whole experience is not a 5-star travel moment. But at least the bus from the airport is the most organized of all the methods for getting to JB. I don't know times of operation... probably too late to do anything at that hour. Hang around the airport until morning - reserve a few hours to sleep at the airport hotel... its basic but comfortable and you can rent by the 2 hour increments.

By the way, a while back, I had a month to kill hanging around the Singapore area. I spend the time in JB and found it to be a pleasant experience. Plus far less expensive than Singapore. Modest hotel cost me about US$15 - after negotiating the "stay for a week" price. Nice variety of food, easy transportation, interesting shopping malls, and Jesco Stores in Malaysia sell everything basic that an expat may need. Not much unique for the tourist.

Transtar operate a coach direct from Changi to Johor for $7 but you may want to check the time of the last coach.
Taxi to Johor can only be got from the Queens street terminal as only specially lincenced Singpore Taxis (and Malaysian taxis which are only allowed to stop at Queens street in Singapore) are allowed to travel to Johor. They are available 24/7.
